LINGSAR TEMPLE

Pura Lingsar is known to be the biggest and the oldest Hindu temple in the island of Lombok. It was built by King Anak Agung Ngurah in 1714 A.D. This temple is considered as sacred and symbol of harmony for the religious in Lombok. In this temple, two structures stand: the Kemalik or the house of Hindu Leader and the Amalik or the house of Hindu promoter.
More captivating in this sacred place is a holy spring within the building of the temple. The locals believe this holy spring brings good fate to everyone who makes use of it. The spring is home to Julit (fish shaped like swamp eel), believed to bring good fortune to whoever sees it, the same reason guests throw eggs into the water in order to attract the julit to make itself seen to the public
